Roar by the Shore Biker Festival Coming to Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Some 15,000 motorcycles will be roaring into the Coastal Bend on the weekend of Oct. 11, as a major biker festival comes to our city.

The Convention and Visitor's Bureau announced Thursday that the huge Budweiser Bike Fest, which has been held on South Padre Island for the past 19 years, is now moving to Corpus Christi.

The festival, called Roar by the Shore, is going to be based at the American Bank Center with all kinds of motorcycle activities and events. There will also be tours, a parade and concerts to welcome all the bikers who are expected to come from Houston, Austin and San Antonio.

"The impact, with entertainment and retail and hotels, it's just going to be huge," said Mark Schaberg, Convention and Visitor's board chairman. "And we need to embrace this so that we make sure that, five years from now, it's 30,000 motorcycles coming to town."

The money rolling into town will also be good news for local charities. Organizers will be giving back to the community as they did in South Padre Island. Over the past 19 years, they say they handed out over $700,000 to local non-profits and will continue to do that here.
