A Beaumont Independent School bus was involved in an accident Friday morning. The accident happened about 10 minutes before 8 a.m. near the intersection of Steelton Avenue and Arthur Lane in north Beaumont.
An officer on the scene told 12News a Jeep Liberty was heading eastbound on Arthur Lane. The driver failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and the Cherokee collided with the school bus.
The officer said there were three special needs children on the bus. All are around 6-years-old. The officer originally told 12News the children were taken to the hospital to be checked out, but later said he misspoke, it was the driver of the bus and an aid from the bus that were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Two of the children were taken by bus to Caldwood Elementary. The third child was picked up by a parent.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
