CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
An agreement between the Port of Corpus Christi and H & H Iron and Metal has a new commodity being shipped into our area.
"The bulk of shipment intended to go to Veracruz, but their port doesn't have a deep enough draft to handle the weight this vessel is carrying," said Jesse Samu with the Port of Corpus Christi.
What you are looking at is called Pig Iron.
It was brought in by the M.V. Fortune Wing which unloaded 12,000 tons of the iron.
In a couple of weeks it will be transported to Mexico.
The port was able to accommodate the company's needs because of the depth of our port.
Officials say we will see more of this type of material come into the port in the future once the Tianjin Pipe Company goes into operation.
