The U.S. Coast Guard is working alongside local agencies to refloat an oil rig supply vessel that ran aground on San Jose Island Monday. Four people are onboard.
A crew member onboard the vessel reported the incident to the U.S. Coast Guard and requested assistance. The captain of that vessel estimated that there are 8,000 gallons of fuel onboard, along with 110 gallons of lube oil. No pollution has been reported, nor have there been any injuries.
A 45-foot response boat was launched Station Port Aransas with crews onboard to respond to the scene. Also, an HU-25 Falcon jet and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter were sent from Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi to provide assistance and evaluate the situation.
