CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A well known local personality here in Corpus Christi will now be dispensing justice in a small town near Victoria as a municipal court judge.
Ray Madrigal, a longtime veterans' rights activist here in the Coastal Bend and former Corpus Christi mayoral candidate, was sworn in Tuesday as municipal court judge in Seadrift, TX.
Madrigal has a criminal justice degree, but has never been a lawyer. It turns out that, in town's designated as smaller communities, you don't have to be a lawyer to be a judge.
Kiii News wishes him all the best in his new job.
