CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Small knives and sporting equipment will soon be allowed on commercial airplanes for the first time since 2001.
The Transportation and Security Administration announced the changes yesterday.
Knives must have blades that are not longer than 2.36 inches and less than one-half inch wide.
Up to two golf clubs, ski poles, hockey sticks, lacrosse sticks or pool cues will be allowed in carry-on luggage.
The changes are set to take effect April 25th.
Union reps for flight attendants called the lift on the ban of knives a terrible idea.
