CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Our military men and women who vote while serving their country often do not get their votes counted.

Texas Secretary of State, John Steen, wants every military ballot to count in every election.

That is why he visited with Nueces County Clerk, Diana Barrera and officials from NAS-Corpus Christi, Wednesday.

Steen says the smallest mistakes will void a ballot including mailing in a ballot and forgetting to sign the envelope.

"So they'll go through all the trouble do everything right, forget to sign your name and it'll be sent it...county clerk says it breaks her heart but she has to reject that ballot because it doesn't follow procedure," said Steen.

Steen says in the end it is up to lawmakers to pass a measure that can make voting an easier process for everyone serving our country.
