This week is "Texas Public Schools Week" and one lesson young students are learning is empathy for the disabled.
Disabled students from Baker Middle School visited Los Encinos Elementary on Wednesday.
The goal for the friendship games is to help children better understand others with disabilities and how to accept peers with differences.
The students played basketball and other games together.
"They have just gained valuable information that we're a friend to all," Christine Sierra, Los Encinos Elementary Principal said. "We're friends to everyone and to lend a helping hand without having to be told to lend a helping hand especially when it is someone confined to a wheelchair."
Principal Sierra says she saw a big difference in her students after the event. She says after a short time the students were all enjoying one another.
