CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
The two construction workers that were pinned by a concrete slab at a construction site on Williams Street Wednesday are supposedly leaving the hospital soon.
Officials are still trying to figure out what went wrong. It was right around 4 p.m. when the underground concrete utility box fell in on them. The two Raytec workers ended up stuck for about two hours as there was a mad scramble to get them freed.
Raytec is a construction company out of Houston that is working on the $8 million Bond 2008 project along Williams Street. The reconstruction work stretches from Airline to Rodd Field.
The City says that, while the company is responsible for its own safety plan, that is under review now.
Officials said that one of the men might have to go back in for surgery, but both men fortunately are expected to make a full recovery.
