CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Spring Break begins Friday, and those arriving in town are going to find quite a mess along Chaparral Street.
The $4.8 million bond project is now underway. Streets are torn up, and construction signs are everywhere.
Kiii News Reporter Michael Gibson went Live from downtown with more details on what's going on.
The City Engineer said Spring Break will not slow the project down, or any of the other road work taking place around town. A grin and bear it attitude will have to be adopted by everyone.
The City has a section of Chaparral Street ripped up, and it is where a lot of out of town folks may want to go to eat or dance. Officials said they will just have to be careful and remember that all the red flashing street lights mean to stop.
The City Traffic Engineering Department has looked over the construction project and feels that it the safest setup for Spring Break.
