A man is facing some serious charges after getting into a fight and biting a Corpus Christi police officer Wednesday morning.
Police said 36-year old Thomas Garcia put up a fight when officers responded to a burglary in progress call on the 9500 block of Lovebird.
Garcia tried to disarm and bite one of the officers, forcing police to utilize a Taser.
The man was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation, and then delivered to the City Detention Center, where he was charged with assault on a public servant, among a number of other charges.
The officer was treated for the bite and other minor injuries and released from the hospital.
