CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Special prayers for Pope Francis I were said during a special mass Thursday afternoon at the Corpus Christi Cathedral.
The excitement of Wednesday's historic election still resonates in the hearts of parishioners. Pope Francis I, who was elected to replace Pope Benedict XVI after he announced his retirement last month, is already gaining a reputation for his humility and passion for the less fortunate.
"He's very humble, mingles with the people and is definitely very involved with people, and that is very important for the new pope," Catholics Elizabeth and Ricardo Martinez said.
"We're excited about the new pope, and he was chosen by God through the cardinals, and a surprise coming from Argentina," Catholic John Doherty said.
