A local attorney is the victim of the city's latest hit and run accident. The accident happening along Ocean Drive right before 7 AM this morning. Police say the victim, Richard Leshin was riding his bicycle in the bike lane, when a vehicle driving in the same direction struck his rear tire. The driver never stopped to render aid. The victim was taken to Spohn Memorial with serious injuries. The victim was on his way to meet with a group of cyclists for a morning ride. One of those cyclist was city councilman Mark Scott who did not see the accident, but knows the victim. Scott said, "he looked back like you are supposed to do. He noticed a car was coming, went farther over to the edge of the bike lane and next thing you knew he was falling. He was run over by a car." Police recovered some evidence from the scene, including parts from the vehicle that fled. They will pass that information on to investigators.
