IWA Ribbon Cutting for New Strength and Conditioning Center

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

It was a big day for the folks at Incarnate Word Academy as they held a blessing and ribbon cutting for a new strength and conditioning center.

The entire high school class looked on as school officials dedicated the new center as part of the Mother Patricia Gunning Gymnasium. The facility includes new flooring, lighting and state of the art strength and conditioning equipment.

The school's athletic director said the center has been a long time coming.

"We weren't really fully equipped for what we wanted to do for our athletic program," Athletic Director Reynaldo Garcia said. "Now we are. With the help of the booster club, we've upgraded to some great facilities in there right now."

The new facility cost some $90,000 in funds collected through booster club fundraising events.
