Mayor, Local GM Help Deliver Meals on Wheels

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Meals on Wheels is a program that delivers meals to our city's elderly who can't afford to eat, and its federal funding is rapidly decreasing.

On Wednesday, Mayor Nelda Martinez, along with the general manager of Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge, helped to deliver meals to bring attention to the program.

Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge is one of the few local companies that helps to sponsor the meals.

"We feel like it's a great program here in Corpus Christi," said Wayne Lytle, general manager of Lithia Chrysler. "There's such a large demand for it and not enough resources that it's impossible for us to not be involved."

There are 125 seniors currently on the waiting list to receive a meal. If you would like to become a sponsor, call Lisa Oliver with the City's Senior Services Department at 361-826-3132.
