Kingsville Accident Leaves Six Illegal Immigrants Dead, Nine Injured

KINGSVILLE (Kiii News) -

It is believed that six illegal immigrants were killed and nine others were injured in an accident around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in Kingsville.

Officials said that, while fleeing from police, the illegal immigrants began heading for the gates of Naval Air Station-Kingsville. The crash occurred soon after.

"You got to put yourself in this person's, these gate guards', positions," said Captain Mark McLaughlin, a commanding officer at NAS-Kingsville. "They don't know who this person is trying to get on, they don't know how many people there are, and what their intentions are, so we follow a standard protocol, which is stop them before they get on the base, and then figure out who they are. In this case, this vehicle did not stop and it proceeded to a very horrific crash."

Kiii News Reporter Mike DaSilva went Live from Naval Air Station-Kingsville with the details.
