Postal Workers Protest

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

We've been following this story since it was announced the government plans to cut mail delivery on Saturdays.
Sunday, hundreds of postal workers and their families gathered outside of one local post office in the 48 hundred block of Everhart in protest.
Mail carriers from Corpus Christi, as well as union branches in Victoria and McAllen lined Everhart to protest proposed delivery cutbacks at the post office.
Some 200 members of the National Association of Letter Carries, Branch 1259, gave up their Sunday afternoon to show solidarity in protesting planned mail delivery reductions.
The protestors say that many Americans, especially small-business owners, senior citizens and rural residents- would suffer if the postal service ceased Saturday delivery.
Juan Munoz, union treasurer says, "Here in Corpus it affects about 50 to 60 people. so these people would actually have to move or be out of a job. so that's money lost in taxes and revenue the city would lose."
Delivering for America, a national group dedicated to preserving six-day delivery, organized more than 100 similar events nationwide on Sunday to send a message to congress.
