Grass Fire Threatens Mount Olive Lutheran Church and School
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
There were some tense moments for some children and educators at a southside preschool church on Tuesday as a grass fire came dangerously close to their building.
The fire broke out around 1 p.m. near the Mount Olive Lutheran Church and School on the 5100 block of Saratoga. The pastor at the church said school teachers noticed the flames and called 911, while some armed themselves with fire extinguishers to slow down the blaze.
Children inside the school were evacuated as all of this was happening.
The Mount Olive pastor said the fire got too close for comfort.
After the children were evacuated, they were taken to a nearby business where their parents picked them up. Aside from being a little shaken up, everyone was okay.
