CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Finding the wreckage of the Titanic was one of the greatest ocean discoveries of the last century, and the man who did it was in Corpus Christi Tuesday to tell his story.

Oceanographer and deep sea explorer Dr. Robert Ballard is speaking at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi as part of the university's distinguished speaker series. Kiii-TV is a proud sponsor of the event.

"I'm very pleased they asked me," Ballard said. "It's an honor when you get invited onto a campus, because I live on a campus, and to be in their distinguished speaker series is, by definition, pretty cool."

As of 6 p.m., there were still some tickets available to see Dr. Ballard's speech. It takes place at 8 p.m. Tuesday night. To see if tickets are still available, click here.
