The Corpus Christi Police Department was recently recognized nationally.
It received its re-accreditation by a national commission that rates law enforcement agencies all across the country.
The department received the honor at an awards banquet this past weekend in Charleston, South Carolina.
Police Chief Floyd Simpson says it means a lot to him and his officers.
"We're very professional. We are in an elite status with regard to our conduct and our professionalism in the world of policing," said Simpson. "So, it's a huge accomplishment for the city and for our personnel."
Chief Simpson says it is a recognition his department works hard every year to achieve.
