Moody High School Student Struck by SUV in School Parking Lot

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A student at Moody High School was struck by a sport utility vehicle just before 9 a.m. Wednesday in the school's parking lot.

A spokesperson for the Corpus Christi Independent School District said the driver of a blue SUV was trying to get around another car dropping off a student. They swerved between that car and other parked vehicles, and that's when the driver hit a female student.

When medics arrived, they found the teen unconscious. She was quickly transported to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital.

"Please slow down and take your time," CCISD Spokesperson Lorette Williams said. "We are all busy, but today is a prime example of when we get into a rush, someone can truly get hurt, and that's what happened here today."

The teen sustained many injuries, including a broken leg and pelvis. The driver was cited for failure to control speed.
