Corpus Christi Leaders Look for Alternative Funding for Road Repairs
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Corpus Christi city leaders continue to look for ways to fund road repairs.
Besides the proposed street maintenance fee new legislation from Austin could help.
City staffers are looking into a measure that would tack on a fee to vehicle registration renewals.
Assistant City Manager Oscar Martinez says that tax could also help fix our roads.
"I can't presuppose what the legislation would look like, but we would hope it would basically be driven by the desire for the city to see it tagged on and the county would simply allow that to happen," said Martinez.
Martinez says this is simply an idea.
Council members are set to vote on the street user maintenance fee in six-weeks.
