PORT ARTHUR -

One man is dead and at least three others injured after a series of early morning shootings in Port Arthur.

Police say just after 3 a.m. Saturday, two groups of men got into a confrontation and opened fire on each other outside the Old School Shack lounge on Houston Avenue. The gunfight resulted in a bystander getting shot in the leg, and the death of 29-year-old Port Arthur resident Marcus "Big Country" Senegal.

"He was a decent guy... for him to go out like this, it's unfortunate," said Keitha Jones, an old schoolmate of Senegal's.

Police say the two groups involved in the shooting have had "an ongoing beef" with each other. Investigators are trying to gather more information, but say witnesses are scarce.

The shooting didn't end at the nightclub. Officials say while they were gathering information at the lounge, they heard multiple gunshots a few blocks away.

When they got to the Prince Hall Apartment complex on 14th Street, they witnessed a car speeding off. After stopping the car they found a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was allowed to go to the hospital, and he was later flown to Galveston by Life Flight.

Police also found a 55-year-old man at the complex with a gunshot wound to his leg. The conditions of both men is unknown at this time.

Police believe the shooting at Prince Hall Apartments was in retaliation for the earlier shooting at the Old School Shack.

Jones lives at Prince Hall, and says he's worried about more shootings in the area.

"I'm concerned for the children, because they're innocent and anyone of them could become the victims of a senseless shooting," he said.

No one has been arrested at this time in connection with either of the shootings, as police are still talking to witnesses and gathering information.

If anyone has any information, call the Port Arthur Police Department at (409) 983-8600.
