ROBSTOWN (Kiii News) -

According to Precinct 5 constables, former Driscoll Police Chief Ben Zapata, who is now a Precinct 5 constable deputy, surrendered his personal firearms Wednesday.

The constables office is reviewing a report that will determine the employment status of Zapata during the investigation into allegations that he assaulted his common law wife.

Zapata faces a felony charge of retaliation in connection with the alleged assault.
