CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

There's a new wreath display at the Lipan Street entrance of the Nueces County Courthouse in honor of those who have been victims of crimes and their families.

It's part of National Crime Victims' Rights Week, which kicked off Monday at an event at the courthouse. District Attorney Mark Skurka was the guest speaker of the event, where local agencies along with victims of crimes gathered to unveil the wreaths.

The wreaths come courtesy of different community agencies that provide support and services to those who have been victimized, including the District Attorney's Office, the Women's Shelter of South Texas, the Corpus Christi Police Department, the Department of Public Safety, Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid, Family Counseling Services, the Children's Advocacy Center, CASA, MADD and Parents of Murdered Children.

National Crime Victims' Rights Week runs from April 21-26, and there will be local events held throughout. Here's a schedule of those events:

Tuesday, April 23 - Proclamation at City Hall.

Wednesday, April 24 - "Denim Day."

Thursday, April 25 - Awards Ceremony from 6-9 p.m. in the main lobby of Nueces County Courthouse.

Friday, April 26 - Drivers nationwide drive with car lights turned on.
