Alice Police Make Arrest in Connection with Sunday Night Shooting

ALICE (Kiii News) -

Alice police arrested a 23-year old man overnight in connection with a shooting that happened in the parking lot of the Exxon Food Mart on the 600 block of South Highway 281 in Alice Sunday evening.

Officers received a call reporting shots fired at about 5:35 p.m. Sunday. A silver Camaro with four occupants inside was targeted and struck three times. Police began searching for the driver of a light green or grey Hummer, which was suspected in the shooting.

The Jim Well's County Sheriff's Department located the Hummer on County Road 466, and 23-year old Michael Guerra was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting. The Sheriff's Department expected to make more arrests.

    Two Edinburg Police Officers are recovering after they were shot Tuesday evening in La Joya as they attempted to serve a capital murder warrant. The suspect in the shooting, 29-year-old Joaquin Cibrian, was shot and killed following an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement. Cibrian was arrested in September of last year in Alice for allegedly using city equipment and materials to make extra cash. He was a city employee at the time.More >>
