Carroll Can Secure Playoff Spot With Win Friday

Posted: Updated:

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - The Carroll Tigers' roller coaster season comes down to two days and a bunch of confusing scenarios this weekend, but one solution is simple: win Friday, and the Tigers are guaranteed to be in the playoffs.

The Tigers can clinch their spot with a win over South San Friday at 8 p.m. at Cabaniss Field. Carroll would still have to play at least one extra game, and possibly two Saturday in that scenario to determine the seeding in District 28-5A.

If the Tigers were to lose Friday, they would then have to play for the 4th and final playoff spot if either San Antonio East Central and/or San Antonio Southwest were to win their games. If both win their games, the Tigers would have to beat both in a "tournament style" Saturday to get that last spot.

Carroll started the year on a roll, winning the Mira's tournament championship. and also the Victoria tournament title. The Tigers beat formidable 5A foes Sharyland and Laredo United, but then later went on a tailspin, losing five straight district games to place themselves completely out of the playoff picture. Now Carroll has won two straight to get back to controlling their own destiny.
