Testimony Heard in Punishment Phase of Elderly Abuse Trial
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
It took jurors less than an hour to find the former owner of a Flour Bluff adult day care facility, 69-year old Najmeh Griffin, guilty of elderly abuse.
Now Griffin is awaiting her punishment. Testimony for that phase of trial began Friday afternoon.
Griffin faces up to 10 years in prison on an elderly abuse charge, and up to a year in jail on an assault charge. She was accused of abusing two patients in 2011 at her Affordable Quality Care Assisted Living.
The business was shut down by the state in 2011 after accusations of patient abuse and neglect.
