Port Avenue Subway Shop Robbed the Second Time this Month

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A second robbery this month at the same Subway sandwich shop, on Port and Baldwin, has police concerned. The shop was robbed just before 9 a.m. Monday.

Kiii News Reporter Brian Burns went Live from the Subway on Port Avenue with the latest details.

Police said they believe the man that robbed the store Monday morning is the same man who robbed the store on April 15. On that occasion, the robber jumped the counter and held a knife to the throat of the clerk on duty.

Police said Monday morning's robbery was very similar, except this time, the clerk suffered minor injuries, and that has investigators alarmed.

"There's been several locations that have been targeted," said Senior Officer Kirk Stowers of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "We don't know the motivation behind it, but we know we want it to stop."

Investigators said the subject is described as a Hispanic male who wore a hoodie in both robberies. After Monday morning's robbery, the suspect was seen leaving the scene in a blue pickup with a white stripe.

Police said they need the public's help. If you know anything about either of these robberies, please call Crime Stoppers at 361-888-8477.
