Researcher at Island University Develops "Cold Plasma," Destroys Killer Bacteria
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
At the Island University, a researcher has developed a way to stop antibiotic-resistant superbugs.
Dr. Magesh Thiyagarajan is calling the find "cold plasma," which he says stops killer bacteria within seconds before it finds a host. He says the technology could be implemented in healthcare settings to prevent infections in the first place. He adds the "Cold Plasma" technology can also be used for food sterilization.
"Cold Plasma" is less expensive than radiation which is currently used. Dr. thiyagarajan developed the "Cold Plasma" technology in the Plasma Engineering Research Lab at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
