Moody's Magical Run Ends Just Short of State Championship

ROUND ROCK (Kiii sports)- The Moody Trojans fell behind early and were never able climb back into their Class 4A state championship game against Tomball on Friday night in Round Rock.

Trojans' starter Michael Cantu was victimized by a misplay in the outfield that wound up as a 3-run inside-the-park home run that put Moody into a 4-0 hole after one inning of play.

Trailing 5-0, Moody finally picked up their lone run of the game on a fielder's choice ground out by Cantu.

Moody failed to add to that total and wound up on the short end of a 6-1 final score.

Eight Trojan starters will return next season including Cantu and fellow pitcher Kenny Saenz.
