Laura Day's Husband, Father of Drowning Victim, Takes the Stand
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
The capital murder trial of Laura Day continued on Monday with her husband, the father of drowning victim Taylor Syring, taking the stand.
On the stand, Syring was asked if Day had ever asked him not to talk to police. He answered, 'Yes,' that he was told through Day's attorney that she didn't want him talking to investigators.
Syring then said that Day never told him she was taking six-year old Taylor to the beach the day the child drowned, adding that, during the police interview, he told investigators he never would have chanced taking Taylor to the beach.
Also on the stand Monday was a Elizabeth Leal, former inmate at the Nueces County Jail who shared a holding cell with Day soon after Day was arrested. Leal, a convicted shoplifter, testified that Day appeared without remorse, saying that "Day was cold, like she didn't have emotion."
