New Addition to Corpus Christi Police Headquarters

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

There is a new addition to the Corpus Christi Police Downtown Headquarters.

The artist that created this sculpture, Jack Gron, along with top brass at the CCPD, officially unveiled this 12 foot sculpture.

If the sculpture looks familiar, that is because the bronze and aluminum sculpture is based upon the CCPD's badge.

Gron, who is also a professor at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, says he takes great pride in being the creator of this art piece.

Jack Gron, Artist, says, "For me it's really an honor to really do this and make this contribution to the police department."

Gron says the money for the sculpture was made available through the city's 'Percent for Art' ordinance, which was setup in the 1980's, which sets aside money for public art.
