New Dorms to Accommodate Student Growth at Island University
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Construction is well underway on new student housing at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The massive new student housing complex is located near Island Hall. It's three stories and will include 150 rooms. Students will have their own single room that includes a bathroom so students won't have to share with a roommate.
This is the first phase of an overall master plan that will house 300 students. Currently, the campus has space for about 14 percent of its student population. Officials say once the new dorms are built, the goal is to eventually require incoming freshmen to live on campus their first year. There will also be a student cafeteria conveniently built right next door. That new dinning hall alone will cost 8 million dollars to construct.
