Family of Aaron Juarez Forms Petition to Keep Accused Attacker In Jail

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The family of the man who was fatally assaulted outside a south side Whataburger earlier this month has formed a petition to keep the man accused in the homicide from getting out of jail.

31-year-old David Alvarez is currently in Nueces County Jail being held in lieu of $200,000 bond. Investigators say Alvarez punched 25-year-old Aaron Juarez after the La Feria native accidentally dinged his door. The 25-year-old died after his head struck the ground.

Recently, Alvarez's attorney has asked the judge in the case to reduce his defendant's bond. The victim's sister, Lea Juarez, says that can not happen.

"You know people have had much higher bonds for lesser offenses and the fact that somebody even wants to reduce it it's just, it kind of upset us because obviously that's our brother that's our family," Juarez said.

The internet petition called "Justice for Aaron Juarez" has more than 2,000 signatures so far. A bond reduction hearing is scheduled Friday, June 14. Juarez says the entire family will be in court.
