Pair of Dogs Found Locked in Cage in Closed Storage Unit

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A sad scene at a westside storage facility. Two dogs are found locked inside a storage unit right in the middle of the day.

Police were called when a woman noticed a man drop off a dog at a storage unit inside this facility at Horne and Crosstown. She said she could hear the at least one dog yelping so she called police.

"I don't know what the temperature is right now, but we're sweating and inside there is no air circulating or forced air or anything," said Corpus Christi Police Senior Office Harmon.

Firefighters showed up to cut the lock and gained access to the unit. Inside they found two dogs that had been there for at least 2 hours. Animal control now has the dogs.

The owner will face animal cruelty charges. The address he gave lead police to an abandoned home so they're still searching for him. No word on when the dogs will be up for adoption.
