CORPUS CHRISTI (CC Hooks) - Four San Antonio hurlers limited Corpus Christi to seven hits in a 7-2 win at Whataburger Field Sunday night before 5,062.

Kevin Quackenbush earned his 13th save in 14 opportunities with bases-loaded strikeouts of Jiovanni Mier and George Springer in the ninth. Ryan Kelly, Jeff Ibarra and Quackenbush teamed for three shutout frames after Donn Roach handled the first six innings.

Yeison Asencio's first home run - a two-out blast into the Corpus Christi bullpen off Jake Buchanan - pushed the Missions to an early 1-0 lead.

San Antonio posted two additional runs in the third courtesy of Asencio's two-out single; Adam Buschini and Rico Noel fueled the uprising with safeties.

Roach slipped out of a one-out, bases-loaded jam an inning later, retiring Michael Burgess on a swinging strikeout and getting a fielder's choice ground ball from Enrique Hernandez.

In the fifth, Corpus Christi converted Drew Muren's lead-off triple to the right-center field gap into its first score. Mier followed by lacing a single to left.

San Antonio staged a two-out rally during the sixth. Buchanan fanned the first two hitters before allowing three straight Missions to reach. Buschini's two-run single made it 5-1 and ran the two-out RBI total to five. Reliever Matt Heidenreich's first pitch went wild, enabling Chris Bisson to cross with run No. 6.

Buchanan (7-1) was charged with 10 hits. He walked one and struck out three.

Erik Castro opened the home sixth by dropping his ninth bomb of 2013 into the visitors' bullpen as Corpus Christi pulled to within 6-2. It was the last inning of work for Roach (5-6), whose line read five hits, two walks and five strikeouts. He generated 11 ground ball outs.

Heidenreich's ninth-inning lead-off walk of Buschini turned into the seventh Missions run. Buschini advanced to third via Noel's single and home after Cory Spangenberg's sacrifice liner to left.

Asencio and San Antonio catcher Eddy Rodriguez had three hits each.

Bobby Doran (6-1) draws the starting assignment for Corpus Christi Monday at 7:05 as the series continues. The Missions counter with Jose De Paula (4-6).
