Be Safe from Diabetes: Red Meat's Link to Type 2 Diabetes

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

New research has reinforced the link between eating red meat and an increased risk for Type 2 diabetes.

Researchers from the National University of Singapore reviewed data from three studies. The studies show that, if you eat more red meat over time, your risk for Type 2 diabetes goes up, and by limiting red meat, that risk goes down.

"You look at this group's previous studies, there were increases in overall mortality with increased ingestion of red meat," Cleveland Clinic's Dr. Betul Hatipoglu said. "There were increases in cardiovascular disease, so we have to be very conscientious about what we put in our mouth, and moderation in eating it sensibly is very important."

Doctors say that, when it comes to red meat, moderation is key.
