CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Many on the southside, including us here at Kiii-TV, were in the dark early Monday morning after an accident caused a power outage.

According to police, it was all due to a dump truck with a raised bed that happened to snap a couple of power lines at the intersection of Everhart and SPID. It happened just after 3:30 a.m.

The power outage affected residents and businesses along the 5,000 block of SPID. Power was out for almost four hours.

American Electric Power said the dump truck snagged a number of cables and it took a longer time to restore power. Power was restored just after 10 a.m.
