Domestic violence may have played a role in the death of a woman in her mobile home overnight. 35-year old Johnny Flores, was arrested and charged with murder.
Neighbors said they were not so shocked about the news. They knew the couple as Johnny and Terri, and that the couple moved to the trailer park in the 7800 block of Leopard at around six months or so.
It was 12:30 a.m. Thursday when emergency crews arrived to the couple's trailer home. Someone had called 911 and said there was a dead woman inside the trailer. Officers went inside and confirmed that the woman was dead.
Investigators began questioning Flores. After talking to him and going over all the evidence, Flores was arrested and then booked into the County Jail on a murder charge.
Neighbors said that the couple argued all the time, including the hours leading up to the murder.
"They did not get along. They would fight, and yesterday he came in and then she came in right behind him," neighbor Wilma Johnson said. "I live right here and I was sitting at my table, and I could hear them fight over there, so I didn't think nothing of it because it happens all the time."
Another neighbor who knew the couple said that sometimes after they fought, the wife would leave and come over to her place.
Nueces County Medical Examiner Rey Fernandez said his office is not ready to release the name of the victim, but he did say that she was brought in with trauma injuries. An autopsy will be performed Friday morning.
Flores remains in jail on a $1 million bond.
