A Corpus Christi man is facing some steep charges after he was seen firing a gun in the air by a Corpus Christi Police Department officer Thursday night.
The officer said he heard gunshots near the 1400 block of North Alameda, and when investigating the area, the officer observed 26-year old Akeem Edwards, a convicted felon, firing several gunshots in the air from a home.
Luckily, nobody was struck by the gunfire.
Edwards was quickly arrested and charged with discharging a firearm. The officer noticed the gun was modified in an illegal manner, so Edwards was additionally charged with having a prohibited weapon, as well as possession of a firearm by a felon.
