PAAC Volunteers Target Worst Areas for Stray Animals
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
People who live on the city's Westside, say it's a problem that is out of control. We're talking about stray and abandoned animals roaming the streets. Saturday, volunteers with PAAC, or People Assisting Animal Control canvassed one of the worst streets for strays, Cheyenne Street.
So far this year, animal control responded to more than 40 calls, many of which were bite calls. The group spoke with residents. They also passed out information about free vaccinations and a free spay and neuter program that animal control is offering right now. The only thing pet owners will have to pay for is a 4 dollar license fee.
In a few weeks after the services are provided, animal control will return and hand out tickets for anyone who isn't following the rules. Those can cost up to 500 dollars.
