Two Seriously Injured in Explosion Flown to San Antonio Burn Unit

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Two people who were seriously injured in Friday's house explosion, a 25-year old and a 60-year old, were both taken to a burn unit at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

Following the blast, which happened on the 4800 block of Holmes early Friday morning, both men were taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital, and were later transferred via HALO Flight to the San Antonio burn unit.

The Corpus Christi Fire Department said one of the victims was found in the backyard of the home where the explosion happened. He reportedly had various cuts and punctures and was singed around his face. The other victim had burns to his upper body and his arms and legs. He had been carried to a park across the street from the explosion.

One other person did have minor injuries, but refused treatment.

    Two Edinburg Police Officers are recovering after they were shot Tuesday evening in La Joya as they attempted to serve a capital murder warrant. The suspect in the shooting, 29-year-old Joaquin Cibrian, was shot and killed following an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement. Cibrian was arrested in September of last year in Alice for allegedly using city equipment and materials to make extra cash. He was a city employee at the time.More >>
