Mayor Nelda Martinez Responds to Horrific Home Explosion

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Following Friday morning's home explosion on the 4800 block of Holmes Drive, Mayor Nelda Martinez made her way out to the scene.

"The initial thought is, what I think of, the place you feel most safe is in your own home, with a roof over your head. That's your haven. All I could think about was my family, and what would happen, and how would I feel if this happened at my own home, where I'm suppose to feel safe," Martinez said. "I thought it was very important to be there with the residents and let them know that we are doing everything we can to get to the bottom of it."

Agencies from all over the state of Texas will be investigating the explosion.
