Man Behind Bars Facing Animal Cruelty Charges

Michael Franco, 21, is in jail facing charges of Animal Cruelty after police say he threw his ex-girlfriend's dog against a wall.

Police were called to a home along the 4600 block of Adkins around 4:30 this morning when the owner of the 5-year old Dachshund named "Layla" reported to police Franco was angry that she sold his put bull to buy food for the other dogs in the home. That's when Franco allegedly threw Layla against a bedroom wall.

The dog was found in a pool of muddy water and was not able to move her hind legs. Franco faces a state jail felony of up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
