CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

There is a new person in charge of Corpus Christi's Animal Care Services, and she says that one of her first big goals is to get more volunteers to help out.

"Well, I would like to increases the volunteer base by at least 10-percent, and we are hoping some of the civic groups within the community, once they realize that we need them, would like to step in," said Heather Hedrick, program manager of Animal Care Services.

Hedrick was recently in charge of Animal Care Services in the Dallas suburb of Coppell. She said she has been impressed with what the police department has done, and she hopes to add to the volunteer fleet by reaching out to local groups, like youth organizations and churches.

If you would like to volunteer, you can call 361-826-4630.
