Harbor Playhouse Takes On Les Miserables

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

If you are looking for something to do this weekend, you might want to check out opening night at the Harbor Playhouse. Les Miserables is set to start at 7 p.m. Friday.

Kiii News Reporter Michael Gibson went Live with more on the night's performance, as well as details on some big changes the Harbor Playhouse is unveiling.

You may not recognize the front lobby of the Harbor Playhouse. It has undergone a makeover, and on Friday, workers were putting the finish touches on that effort. New chandeliers are in place, along with artwork from local artists.

The front of the building has also had new landscaping put in, all in time for opening night of Les Miserables -- a tale of passion and revolution in 19th century France.

"Les Miserables. It is the biggest production that we've ever mounted in 85 years," said Brucie Moore, board president for the Harbor Playhouse.

"There's over 100 people involved in this production, either on stage or in the orchestra, or on the crew, or in the lobby or concession stand and box office, so it really is a community effort, and it's the best of what community theater is," Director Carl Yowell said.

The production will be on stage through Aug. 25. Adult tickets cost $21, but there are discounts for seniors, the military and for students.
