Some college students who are well on their way to a career in medicine got to show off what they have learned on Tuesday.
Nursing students from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi held a family health fair at the Boys and Girls Club on Greenwood. The students performed blood and diabetes checks, and several local health organizations were invited to join them and promote the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.
"The children and the parents greatly benefit from the blood pressure and the blood glucose screening," TAMUCC nursing student Bianca Falcon said. "The American Diabetes Association and hospitals are here to pass out information about health and healthy eating habits. That's what we are trying to promote to the community."
In all, 24 nursing students took part in the family health fair.
