Javelinas Tabbed to Finish Fourth in LSC Preseason Poll

FORT WORTH, TX (Javelina Athletics) - The Texas A&M-Kingsville football team under first-year head coach David Calloway was selected to finish fourth in the preseason poll announced Tuesday at the Lone Star Conference Football Media Day in Fort Worth.

The Javelinas finished with 82 total points with one first-place vote in the poll decided upon by the league's head coaches, media and sports information Director. West Texas A&M was picked to finish first in the LSC receiving 16 votes to finish first and receiving 141 points. The Buffs also claimed the LSC Preseason Player of the Years on offense and defense with quarterback Dustin Vaughan and defensive lineman Ethan Westbrooks.

Midwestern State was picked to finish second with three first-place votes and 124 votes. Tarleton State was third with 99 points and a nod to finish first. Following the Javelinas in fourth, Angelo State was fifth, Eastern New Mexico sixth, and Texas A&M-Commerce seventh.

The Javelinas are coming off a 6-6 season in which they finished third in the LSC to earn a berth in the Kanza Bowl versus Emporia State. They report for preseason camp in mid-August and open the season at Central Washington on Sept. 7
