Astros Deal Norris and Maxwell Before Trade Deadline

BALTIMORE, MD (Kiii Sports) - The Houston Astros continued their team overhaul Wednesday, trading both ace pitcher Bud Norris and outfielder Justin Maxwell in separate deals before the trade deadline.

The former Corpus Christi Hook Norris was traded to the Orioles, who were already playing host to the Astros. The O's announced Wednesday night that Norris will make his debut against his former team Thursday night.

Houston received two prospects and a pick in the competitive balance draft in 2014. Triple-A outfielder L.J. Hoes was originally scheduled to start for the Orioles Wednesday, but instead will suit up for Houston and bat second.

Earlier in the afternoon, Houston sent Justin Maxwell to the Royals for Class A minor league pitching prospect Kyle Smith.
